Paid test series are grossly overrated...

CA students are wasting a lot of their time and money in running behind paid test series. There is a better alternative.

Paid test series conducted by CA, CMA coaching institutes are absolutely overrated. They are borderline manipulative.

You enroll for the test series under the belief that the "famous" influencer faculty advertised the test using their voice and face. You believe that somehow they will involve themselves in the test.

8 out of 10 chance that they will not be setting the question papers.

10 out of 10 chance that they will not be evaluating your answer paper.

Because it is not scalable. A paper will take at least 5-7 minutes to have it evaluated decently. If the academy has 200 students who had written mock tests, then it would take at least 1400 minutes to have them evaluated. 1400 mins is almost 24 hours!

Do you really think the star faculty has 24 hours to sit and evaluate every test paper? Most likely it will be done by CA Inter students or B Com graduates who work for piece-rate basis.

I really question the integrity of this business model itself.

A better alternative would be to write self-evaluated mock tests by yourself at home. There are certain things in life which you should not outsource them to others. Feedback learning is one of them.

Star athletes review hours and hours of the film from the matches they played. They get the feedback their coaches and analysts. If you are not privileged enough to hire a CA expert to give you 1-0-1 feedback, then you have to become your own coach; your own analyst.

Since I worked in internal audit, I have a knack to convert every process into a Standard Operating Procedure.

1) Sit and write mock test at home.

2) Evaluate it by yourself afterwards.

Sounds too obvious and implied, doesn't it? Well, if you break down the process into multiple check points, you do get a huge 14-pointer checklist.

You do not want to be missing out on this checklist.

Have this downloaded and keep 3-6 copies printed. Follow the procedure before and after every mock test. It will accelerate your learning from feedback.
